Working with Fever Creative, I led the UX design on a suite of mobile applications (smartphone, tablet, mobile web) for The Creators Project, which are now available in the iTunes store for iPhone and iPad, as well as the Android Market. The mobile web site should be launching soon.
The Creators Project is a collaborative initiative between Vice and Intel to provide exposure and support for artists, musicians and designers whose work is driven by or focuses on technology.
The mobile apps are mostly content-driven, though there are a few location-based features which allow users to receive push notifications about upcoming events near their selected location (TCP sponsors events around the world featuring the work of their sponsored “Creators”). Where we were able to push the envelope most was in creating (what I consider) a really interesting and entertaining browsing experience. Each Creator has metadata for country and topic (film, art, design, music, etc.). The smartphone app allows users to browse between categories or countries (by swiping horizontally) or within a single category/category (by swiping vertically). The user can then switch between country or category as they stumble across content that interests them, providing a serendipitous browsing experience unique to the mobile platform.
Finally, in addition to the the mobile apps and site, I also did the UX design and XML/Python development for the Creators Boxee.tv application.
Big ups to Dave Jimison, Noah Keating and the rest of the Fever team.
